Tours: Depending on the tours you take and excursions you make exploring the island, be sure to enjoy your day by being prepared. Some items to consider bringing with you on your tour would be a change of clothes, towel, sunscreen or hat, camera, water shoes, money and positive vibes!

Time Zone: Jamaica does not observe Daylight Savings Time, so in late fall, winter and early spring, Jamaica time is the same as Eastern Standard Time, and in late spring, summer and early fall, it is the same as Central Standard Time.

Water: The water is generally very safe to drink in Jamaica. If you have a particularly sensitive stomach, you may want to stick to bottled water, available all over the island.

Language Spoken: English and Patios.

Money: Local currency is the Jamaican dollar, but US dollars are accepted almost everywhere in Jamaica. If you pay in US dollars, you will most likely receive your change in Jamaican dollars. Also, some places may not have change to give you, so the smaller the bill the better.

Credit Cards: Most hotels and larger shops and restaurants will take credit cards. Smaller restaurants, shops, street vendors, taxis and tour operators will not take credit cards. It is always best to ask FIRST if credit cards are accepted.

Restaurants: Due to the slower-paced atmosphere of Jamaica and most all food being 'made to order', you can expect a longer wait time for your meals compared to service in the US. For larger groups, call ahead to the restaurant for best service.
